Walk Tea and Talk 2015

Tea and Talk fundraising in Market Deeping

Saturday 10 October

World Mental Health Awareness Day

Join Emma and many others for Tea and Talk and fundraise for the Mental Health Foundation.

I’ve been fundraising for the charity since 2010, when I decided at the beginning of that year whilst out walking I wanted to do something more challenging, and really push my comfort zone limits. I decided to do a charity challenge, and after some elimination set on walking sections of the Great Wall of China over five days covering just under 80 miles.

It sounded relatively challenging, however achievable and I spent 2010 training and fundraising, whilst also writing my first personal development book; belifehappy: give. play. love. learn, published this year by Balboa Press a division of Hay House.

Local Sponsored Walk

As a celebration of the five year anniversary of the trek I’m hosting a local three mile sponsored walk within my local town of Market Deeping. Anyone can join us by registering on the morning by 9.45am at the Deepings Community Centre. We are aiming to set off by 10.00am. All walkers will be required to pay £5 to enter which includes a free refreshment and cake when they return to the centre for the Tea and Talk party, and don;t forget to get sponsored! All money raised is sent to the charity.

What are you helping?

Here’s some quick facts about Mental Health Foundation and you’ll hopefully see why I support this charity.

In 2001 I was one of the 1 in 6 and I know or have worked with colleagues and more so clients in the other areas. This charity supports everyone. Together we can make a difference by helping raise awareness of our mental health and fundraising to support research and continued awareness education.

Through mindfulness, self awareness and understanding how to look after our mental health many of us can live balanced and healthy lives. With tools we learn we can help others who might want and need our help.

Did you know:

1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any one year
1 in 6 of us are affected by depression at some point in our lifetime
Suicide remains the most common cause of death in men under the age of 35
1 in 5 children have a mental health problem in any one year, and about half of all mental health problems are rooted in childhood
1 in 20 people have some form of dementia
1 in 15 young people self harms
40% of people with learning disabilities experience mental health problems.

If you fancy a walk come and join us and also know you’ll be helping fund research and awareness of the above :-)
